Help and guides
GeoRoutes is a multipurpose route scheduler for teams who work out in the community rather than from one building. It takes a list of people to visit, a list of staff, and the rules you work to — then builds each person's day around real driving distances instead of straight lines on a map. It handles several visits a day to the same person, with a minimum gap between them, and works just as well for rounds that need nothing of the sort.
Who this is built for
The same scheduling problem turns up under a lot of different job titles. Home care and reablement services use it as care planning software for morning, lunch, tea and bed rounds. District and community nursing teams use it for insulin and dressing visits that have to happen inside a fixed window. Occupational therapy and physiotherapy services use it for longer assessment and rehab visits, where a handful of appointments can still eat a whole day in travel. Housing officers, support workers and mobile engineers use it for the same reason.
The guides below start with the basics, then cover how each of those services tends to set things up.
Learning the basics
Getting started: your first schedule
6 minA step-by-step walkthrough for building your first optimised schedule in GeoRoutes, from adding staff to reading the finished route.
Staff, skills and start locations
7 minAdd staff, set individual working hours, choose whether someone starts from home or the office, and use skills so visits reach qualified people only.
Appointments, double-ups and repeat visits
8 minHow to add appointments, request two staff for a double-up, schedule several visits to the same person in one day, and enforce a minimum gap between them.
Multiple visits a day to the same person
8 minSchedule several visits a day to one person with a minimum gap between them — morning, lunch, tea and bed calls — or run without repeat visits at all.
Call purposes and time windows
7 minKeep morning calls in the morning, pin time-critical visits to an exact time, and use call purposes and custom windows to control when visits happen.
Reading your schedule, map and warnings
6 minHow to interpret the generated schedule, follow each staff member's route on the map, and act on the warnings and hints the scheduler produces.
